Grong Gård carries a rich history that stretches back several hundred years, to the days when its foundation first served as a resting place for travelers and their horses. This venerable farm was originally a bustling stagecoach station, a critical hub where travelers found respite before continuing on their journey to the coast’s lively markets to buy fish and salt.
In 1773, Grong Gård became a guesthouse, a place of refuge where weary souls found rest and renewed strength. The guesthouse became known for its exceptional service, a tradition that lives on to this day. For us, Grong Gård is more than just a place to stay; it is part of the journey, a place where paths cross and stories are shared.
Throughout the centuries, the farm has been a favorite stopping place for anglers from all corners of the world, attracted by the famous Namsen salmon river. This tradition still holds strong, and it is not uncommon for guests to return year after year, drawn by the river’s lure and the warm hospitality of the farm.
In 1960, Grong Gård was expanded with a private section. A decade later, the guesthouse was enhanced with six additional rooms, two lounges, and a cellar hall. Today, an increasing number of tourists are drawn here for the chance to experience authentic Norwegian culture and tradition in an environment that encourages relaxation and enjoyment.
At Grong Gård, you are invited to become a part of our history, to find peace in our traditional and homely atmosphere. We offer not only a place to rest your head but an opportunity to enrich your journey with meaningful experiences and lasting memories.
